Vas “Bert” Hubert Brogdon, III

Vas Hubert (Bert) Brogdon, III, 78, of Granbury passed away on Thursday, April 16, 2020. He will be lying in state from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM, on Monday, April 20, 2020 at Wiley Funeral Home in Granbury. The family’s graveside service will be on Tuesday, April 21, 2020, at 2:00 PM, at Holly Hills Memorial Park in Granbury.
Bert was born on September 19, 1941 in Houston, Texas to Vesta and Vas Hubert Brogdon Jr. He married Audrey Linda Lesta on June 23, 1962 in Greenwich, Connecticut. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He cherished the time that he spent with his family and friends, and loved the outdoors.
Bert received his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Connecticut. He raised his family in Hurst, Texas, working for Bell Helicopter, General Dynamics, Boeing and Lockheed Martin. He and Audrey relocated to Granbury in 1997, where they enjoyed the Pecan Plantation RV Club, and he eventually became president of the Brazos River Sportsman’s Club.
Bert is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Audrey Brogdon; three daughters, Bridget Lavender, Sherie Stoddard, her husband, Michael Smith, and Kim Green; two sisters, Louise Burnett, Diane Gustafson, her husband, Gus; and his brother, Bill Brogdon, his wife, Carol; four grandchildren, Warren Stoddard, Nathan Green, Olivia Lavender and Matthew Green; and two sisters-in-law, Cathy and Elaine Lesta.
He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
