GLEN ROSE — Verna Ice Bush, 92, went to her heavenly home Saturday, April 28, 2012 in Glen Rose. Service: A celebration of her life will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Wiley Funeral Home in Glen Rose. Burial: Nancy Smith Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Wiley Funeral Home. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Nancy Smith Cemetery Association, P.O. Verna was born Dec. 18, 1919 in Glen Rose to Zeb and Nell Pace Ice. Although she lived in River Oaks for over 50 years, she always considered Glen Rose her home. She married Art Bush on July 5, 1947 in Henrietta. She was an avid bowler and cherished her many friends at the bowling alley as much, if not more, than she loved the game itself. She and Art operated Bush T.V. Service on White Settlement Road in River Oaks for over 30 years. They were long time members of Castleberry Baptist Church.
Verna loved to garden and grow flowers. Every spring people would stop to admire her beautiful yard. She loved sharing gardening tips and often gave plants to friends and neighbors.
She was the oldest of five children and the last surviving member of her family. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Fain and Claudine Ice; sisters, Robbie Vaughn and Avanell Ice; her oldest son, Billy Jack Vaughn and her husband of 49 years, S.A. Bush.
The family is very grateful to the staff of Cherokee Rose Nursing Home in Glen Rose for the care given to her for the past two years.
Survivors: Sons, Will and wife, Shirley Vaughn and Bobby and wife, Vicky Bush; daughter, Judy Bush and husband, Michael Stroud; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren all loved her as Granny; many nephews and nieces.
