Violet Ruth Pollard

Violet Ruth Pollard, 79, passed away Tuesday, October 6, 2020 in Granbury, Texas.

She was born December 18, 1940 in Bakersfield, California to Lois Jack and Mary Gentry.

Violet worked for Southwest Airlines for over 35 years, being one of the first ten employees in the company. She enjoyed traveling and spending time tending to her plants and her garden. She was very artistic in many ways. Her fondness for writing and poetry has always been a passion of hers, and she loved to paint.  But Violet’s true love was for animals. She would always find room in her heart for the stray cat in the parking lot or dog needing a forever home. As her family always said, “She loves her animals more than she loves us.” Violet’s philosophy was “Love, Live, Be Happy”. She was loved and will be missed by her family and friends.

Violet is survived by her children, Rhonda Freelen and husband Billy, Steve Parks and wife Carrie, and Debbie Penkala and husband Michael; grandchildren, Sonya Robertson, Matthew Freelen, David Montanaro, Jessica Huntley, Shelby Parks, and Christopher Parks and numerous other family members and loved ones.

She was preceded in death by her son, Richard Parks.

Visitation will be at Wiley Funeral Home, Granbury, Friday, October 9, 2020 from 3pm-6pm. Services will be held at Good Shepherd Anglican Church, 3601 Fall Creek Hwy, Saturday, October 10, 2020 at 1pm, with graveside following the service at Moore Memorial Gardens in Arlington.
