Virginia E. Turner

Virginia E. Turner, known by many who loved her as “Jinny”, went to be with the Lord on December 29, 2017 in Plano, TX. She was 86.
Born to Guy and Retha Admire in Nocona, TX on November 2, 1931, she graduated from Nocona High School and married James C. “Jim” Turner on June 14, 1948. They moved to Lubbock, TX Jim attended Texas Tech and made their home there, where she worked alongside Jim to build a successful real estate and building business, “Jim Turner Enterprises”. Virginia and her husband raised their family as faithful members of the Oakwood Baptist Church in Lubbock.
After 34 years in Lubbock, they retired to Pecan Plantation in Granbury, TX. Virginia enjoyed playing golf and bridge, as well as traveling with Jim around the U.S. in their 5th wheel. As a loving and devoted wife and mother, she was always so proud and supportive of her family. Known to be full of energy, giving of herself and her time, Virginia enjoyed helping others. She was loved for her positive nature, along with her courageous spirit and wit.
Virginia is preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Jim; parents Guy Admire and Retha Moore; sisters Bonnie Admire and Geneva Marmaduke; and brother James Admire. She is survived by her 3 devoted children, David and wife Maureen of Austin, TX; Neal and wife Kerie of Plano, TX; and daughter Dana Frazier and husband Tim of Houston. Six grandsons, Chris Turner and wife Kelly; Josh Turner and Amanda Steinbrecher; Justin Turner and wife Anna; Sam Turner; Zach Frazier and wife Kristen; and Daniel Frazier. Four great grandchildren, Brooke and Reid Turner, Eva Turner, and Magnolia Turner.
A celebration of Virginia’s life will be Saturday, January 6, 2017 at 12:00 p.m. in the chapel of Wiley Funeral Home in Granbury, with visitation beginning at 11:00 a.m. She was cherished by so many who will miss her, yet are very thankful to have been part of her life. 2nd Corinthians 9:7 – “give of the heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver”.
