Virginia Rula Lewis Flowers was born January 14th, 1931 to Paul and Vivian McNeely Rula in the coal mining community of Rita, West Virginia. Mrs. Flowers passed away peacefully after a life well lived on Tuesday, September 12th at the home of her son, John Lewis.
Mrs. Flowers was a loving, strong woman that overcame losing her parents at an early age. She moved to Dallas where she had a successful career with both MGM and the Disney Corporation. She also worked at the Mesquite Rodeo providing the music for performances for many years. Mrs. Flowers enjoyed the old style country music and in her early days loved dancing. She was an excellent cook serving many wonderful family meals, an expert domino and card player, loved to laugh and was a well-loved Mother, Grandmother and Friend.
Mrs. Flowers was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers and sisters; her first husband, Earl Wayne “Tex” Lewis and her second husband, I. D. Flowers.
Mrs. Flowers is survived by her son, John Lewis; daughter Patti Flowers Vela and husband, Joe, and grandchildren: Jason Lewis and wife, Rachel; Cristina Lewis, McKenna Vela, Viviana Vela, Nathan Vela and great-granddaughter, Madalyn Lewis.
