Walter H. “Buddy” Test
Those we love don’t go away,
They walk beside us every day.
Unseen, unheard, but always near,
Still loved, still missed, and very dear.
Buddy was born January 20, 1932, in McKinney, Texas to Boe and Berry Test, the second of three children. He attended Ennis High School, graduating in 1949. He began working for the Southern Pacific Railroad in 1948 as a dispatch, waking up men and making sure they were at work. He entered the U. S. Navy in 1950, serving on the Randolph Macon as well as other postings with his beloved VC-7 squadron. While stationed in Morocco, he played his first round of golf, the beginning of a 65-year passion. He served from 1950 to 1954, honorable discharged. He went on to attend Texas Tech University, then University of Texas in Austin.
Buddy met the love of his life, Joan Harrison, and married in 1959. They took their vows before God and Father John V. McCallum and remained together for the next 65 years, until his passing on January 14, 2023, at the age of 90. Just six days shy of his 91st birthday. He retired from Southern Pacific Railroad after 45 years. Buddy and Joan retired to Pecan Plantation Country Club, where they lived on the 10th fairway of the Nutcracker Golf Course in Granbury, Texas.
Buddy is survived by his wife, Joan Marie Test; sons, Christopher Anthony Test and David Glenn Test.
The memorial service is set for February 23, 2023 at 11:00 am at St. Francis Cabrini Church by Father Fernando.
The funeral date is set for May 30, 2023 at DFW National Cemetery.
