William Allen Cross, Jr. was born June 16, 1959 in Harlingen. He was a retired Veteran from United States Air Force Security Forces with twenty-four years of service from 1981 to 2005. He guarded and served five different Presidents and was the NCOIC of Criminal Investigations at Andrews Air Force Base, the home of Air Force One. He was known by all of his troops as “Pops”. After retirement, he has worked for Springtown Independent School District transportation for the last three years. He was awarded Safety Employee of the year in 2017.
Billy was preceded in death by his father, William A. Cross, Sr.; sisters, Pamela and Cindy Cross; and a brother, Terry Cross.
Survivors, Wife, Janet Clark Cross of Springtown; mother, Joan Cross of Virginia Beach, Virginia; brother, John Cross of Virginia Beach, Virginia; mother-in-law, Glenda Clark of Springtown; his previous wife, Dawy Pyles Cross of Churchton, Maryland; children, William A. Cross III and wife, Denise of Harrington, Delaware, Brandy Cross Everett and husband, James of Kerneysville, West Virginia, Joycelyn Cross Fowler and husband, Patrick of Shady Side, Maryland; step-daughter, Candice Webster Moses and husband, Keith of Nacogdoches; “Poppop’s” grandchildren, Yasmine Everett, Patrick Fowler, Jr., William Cross IV, Logan Cross, Gabriella Cross, Bentley Fowler, Caden Everett, Emory Everett and Lillien Fowler; step-grandchildren, Tyler and Sydney Moses.
