GRANBURY — William “Bill” David Reid, 86 entered his heavenly home on Sept. 27, 2012. He was born Sept 22, 1926 in Fort Worth to Gibbon Reid and Maleta Carty Reid. A memorial service to celebrate Bill’s life is forthcoming. For those wishing to honor Bill, please make a contribution in his memory to Alzhiemer’s Association or charity of your choice. Bill was an honor graduate of Paschal High in Fort Worth in 1945. Following high school, Bill served in the United States Army Air Force as it was known at the time. After completing his military service he met his sweetheart and lifelong partner Joyce Beverly Holt. They were married in 1948. Bill then attended Texas A&M University earning a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. No one who ever met Bill doubted that he was an “Aggie for life”. Bill and Beverly’s son, Stuart arrived on Dec. 3,1956 -What a great early holiday gift. Bill experienced a successful career in Quality Control with the following: Bell Helicopter, General Dynamics, LTV, Menasco, Overhead Door and Colt Industries. During his career Bill had the privilege of working on the Aerospace Program as well as the F-16 Fighter Jet Program. However, without a doubt, the highlight of his career came in 1980 when Bill was invited by Colt Industries to serve the company in Eindhoven, Holland. Bill and Beverly resided in Holland for four wonderful years. Bill often referred to his time there as a four year history tour with their home serving as the Reid Lodge for many of us that had the good fortune of visiting them in The Netherlands. A lover of family heritage, Bill and Beverly were active in the Scottish Clan Donnachaidh/Robertson from 1984 to 1998. Bill Served as president of the Texas Branch of Clan Donnachaidh. Bill Retired in 1994 and never one to be idle he and Beverly moved to Pecan Plantation in Granbury, Texas. They became involved in Plantation life and when not on the golf course, Bill could be found at the clubhouse serving on the Board of Directors or playing bridge. Familly and friends fondly remember Bill for his love of history, travel, bridge (as a Master Bridge Player), golf and entertaining with his wife and not to be forgotten, his enthusiasm for the Dallas Cowboys and the Texas Aggies. As Bill could often be heard saying, “Go Cowboys” or “Gig Em Aggies”. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Gibbon Carty Reid. Bill is survived by his wife of 64 years Beverly Holt Reid of Granbury; son Stuart Carson Reid and his wife Judith Collier-Reid of Dallas and grandson Dylan C. Reid of Dallas. He is also survived by nephew Alan Lambert and Wife Barbara Lambert along with their children David Lambert and Christy Lambert Jones and husband Brian Jones; niece Lana Macko and husband Ron Macko and their children Kim and Kelly Macko. We are all blessed to have known Bill as our family, our friend, our colleague and our neighbor. We will cherish the great joy he brought into our lives and the wonderful memories he leaves with us.
