DECORDOVA — William E. “Bill” Reed, 83, passed away Friday, Sept. 23, 2011, at his DeCordova residence.
Bill Reed’s life will be celebrated informally, Sunday, Oct. 9, 2011, from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. in the Chapparel Room of the DeCordova Bend Country Club, 5301 Country Club Drive, Granbury, Texas 76049-4228. Phone: 817-326-2391.
As a young man, Bill decided to pursue a career using his creative talent. After learning display and design from various Dallas companies, at the age of 24, a partner and Bill began their own business producing retail store displays. Later he started Bill Reed Decorations, Inc. which developed into a well known and thriving company. He designed exhibits, museums, parties and charity balls, restaurant and store interiors, television commercials and Christmas decorations, both locally and across the country. Bill sold the business in 1992 and retired to Granbury, TX, to pursue his passion of art, in particular watercolor painting. He traveled the world, creating award winning watercolors and teaching painting workshops. He became an award winning signature member of the Southwestern Watercolor Society in Dallas, plus membership in the Lake Granbury Art Association and the Society of Watercolor Artists, Inc. of Fort Worth.
Bill was preceded in death by parents, Edward and I.V. Marie Reed, and sister, Rose Marie LaBarba.
Survivors: Wife of 63 years, Evelyn Lavelle Reed; brother, Jack Reed and wife, Marion, of Mount Pleasant; sisters, Barbra Jean Arnold of Sachse, Juanita Swafford and husband, Jerry, of Dallas; children, Mark E. Reed and wife, Sara, of Bedford, daughter, Connie Reed Calvin, and husband, Chris, of Granbury, son, David N. Reed and wife, Irene, of Granbury, daughter, Carol Reed Kistner and husband, Darrin, of Lewisville; grandchildren, Natalie Harper, April Reed, Jessica Harper, Bonnie Reed, Kaitlin Skeen, Chase Harper, Taylor Reed, Patrick Reed, Emily Reed, Josh Kistner, Sarah Reed, Will Kistner, and Daniela Reed; great-grandchildren: Brayden Reed, Stone Irvin, London Reed, Riley Pomroy, and Vaylen Garza.
