Elaine and family, So sorry to hear about Bill. He was a great friend and colleague and mentor. Even though I have not seen you guys in a while I still think of the good times we had at your house when you lived here. Thank God Judy did not drink so she could drive me home. Connie I will probably see you at some point later. God's Blessing Al & Judy '
Rest in peace Bill. Your enthusiasm and spirit will be missed.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you, Elaine, and all your Family. We will always remember the great times with all of you -- for the personal and working relationship with Bill -- and are grateful for having these experiences and sharing in your lives.
Elaine, we learned just this morning that Bill had passed. We did not know he was ill, or we surely would have sent him our best wishes and let him know of our
support. Bill was an unforgettable person, a great support for us in the NMSU years, and a good friend. We wish you the best in this difficult time -- Alan and Bev
Our love and peace are sent to you, Elaine, and the rest of the family. Bill was the best!!! but I don't have to tell you that. He was loved and will be missed so very much. Sonja and Dave
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.
Bill was my husband's dear friend, fraternity brother and best man at our wedding 54 years ago but became a great friend to me as well. His zany personality, coupled with that of Elaine's, brought so much joy to our time together over the years. We were visiting Bill and Elaine last September when he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and, though it was a dark day for all of us, we know we were supposed to be there. These past nine months have been bittersweet...seeing Bill's battle which was so full of hope until the very last weeks, yet never talking to him that he didn't ask about us or make us laugh. What a guy!! We loved him so much and we love you too, Elaine. We wish you peace as we say good bye to that crazy guy you married. (((Hugs)))Sonja and Dave.
We have been very close friends with Bill and Elaine for fifty two years. Bill was such a fine person. Going to miss all our fun trips together. Particularly the Ohio State trips. We visited at least once a year, and sometimes, several times a year. Tom will miss academic discussions, and I will miss our euchre games and Bill's fantastic personality and sense of humor. Our love to Elaine, Konnie, Katherine, Scott and Todd.
I am very saddened and a little shocked to hear the news of Bill's passing. He recently communicated with me by email, but never mentioned his cancer. What a great person was Bill, always upbeat and happy. We were co-workers in grad school at Ohio State and again at Texas A&M. He was a great friend.
Bill was a great guy and a terrific leader. It was a pleasure to work with him through Site and he will be missed.
So sad to hear of Bill's passing. I can not ever remember Bill not having a smile on his face. He was such a joy to be around.. Our prayers and thoughts are with the Vastine Family
I had the pleasure of working for Bill for many years. He was a truly unforgettable man who will be missed. Sending up prayers for his family in this difficult time.
Bill was a fun, funny, larger-than-life and joyful man to be around! He and Elaine were my Texas family as we hung out together in fabulous destinations all over the world attending Site Conferences spanning many years. He was a crucial founder to the Site Texas chapter. Quite simply, the world is a better place for his having been here and we will all miss him dearly. Big hugs to the entire Vastine family during this difficult time!
So many of my childhood memories have Bill and Elaine and the family in them. I loved him like he was my other dad. I will miss him but I am glad to have had him in my life for so many years. Love and prayers to all of you. Our hearts are broken for you in your time of loss. We love you.
Please accept our deepest condolences for your family's loss.
