GRANBURY — William “Bill” Rozell, 82 of Granbury passed away Monday, June 4, 2012.
Memorial visitation: 2 – 4 p.m. Friday, June 8, 2012 at Martin’s Funeral Home.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer’s Foundation would be kindly appreciated.
Bill was born August 22, 1929 in Long Beach, California. His early years were spent in El Paso and Los Angeles. Upon graduating from Manual Arts High School in 1947, Bill served three years in the Air National Guard’s 195th Fighter Squadron, 62nd Wing in California. Bill later graduated from the Northrop School of Aeronautics and Mount San Antonio College in Pomona, CA.
He started his career at Douglas Aircraft Company; moving his family to Oregon in 1963 where he became General Manager of Electronics Specialty. He then served as President of Ford Industries from 1970 to 1980. Bill completed his career as Chairman of the Board of Unident Corporation of America.
A true renaissance man, Bill was a captain of industry, and an adventurer. He was an accomplished sailor, aviator, world traveler and rancher. He enjoyed many years of sailing the Caribbean with his wife Sandy and his family from their Marco Island, Florida home. However, Bill’s true passion was flying and airplane trading, which he embraced and loved for over 60 years.
Survivors: Wife, Sandy; daughter, Stephanie Norton (Palm Springs, CA); sons, Michael Rozell and wife April (Charlotte, NC) and Mitch Rozell (Hurst, TX) two grandsons, two granddaughters and 2 great-granddaughters.
